Role Purpose: The Engineering Planner is responsible for the effective planning and scheduling of maintenance activities to ensure the smooth operation of the food manufacturing facility. This role involves coordinating with various departments to minimise downtime and maximise productivity while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Role Dimensions: Reports to: Site Engineering Manager Direct reports: 0 Indirect report: 0 Budget holder: Maintenance Budget Location: Trafford Role Accountabilities: Develop and maintain detailed maintenance schedules for all equipment and machinery. Coordinate with production and maintenance teams to plan and prioritise maintenance activities. Allocate resources, including manpower, tools, and materials, for maintenance activities. Plan and schedule overtime resources to facilitate execution of PM/MR plans during shutdowns and to cover holidays, including KPI reporting. Monitor inventory levels of spare parts and consumables, placing orders as needed whilst providing efficient and effective procurement of engineering spares. Manage external contractors and service providers for specialised maintenance tasks. Generate reports on maintenance performance, including key metrics such as MTTR (Mean Time to Repair) and MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures). Analyse data to identify trends and areas for improvement, and report Engineering KPIs and action plans on a daily/weekly basis. Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations, company policies, and statutory, mandatory, and legal requirements. Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving initiatives. Work with the CI (Continuous Improvement) & Project engineers to coordinate line improvements. Track and control maintenance expenditures to ensure cost-effectiveness and identify cost-saving opportunities. Develop and deliver training programs for maintenance staff on new equipment and procedures, ensuring team members are up to date with the latest industry standards and technologies. Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development, and coordinate knowledge transfer through the development of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and training of Engineers. Lead and manage maintenance projects, including equipment upgrades and installations to ensure completion within scope, time, and budget. Develop and implement emergency response plans for equipment failures and other incidents and coordinate rapid response efforts to minimise production downtime during emergencies. Conduct post-incident reviews to identify lessons learned and improve future responses. Provide regular updates on maintenance activities and performance to senior management, and address stakeholder concerns to ensure alignment with overall business objectives. Drive and attend daily control and engineering meetings. Support the operations team via attendance at daily operations meetings as required. Lead Weekly Plan Review Meetings with attendance from SEM/Reliability Engineers to ensure planning and scheduling on PMs/MRs. Skills/Knowledge/Experience: Experience in maintenance planning within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food industry. Strong organisational and communication skills. Attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems). Knowledge of maintenance best practices. Knowledge of food safety standards (desirable). Qualifications: Previous time-served engineering experience, or a related field (Desirable). Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (Desirable). Project Management Professional Certification (Desirable).
