About Caterpillar Defense Caterpillar Defense at Shrewsbury is responsible for the design, development and integration of engine and drivetrain packages to meet the needs of tracked and wheeled military products globally. The facility also provides remanufacturing services of industrial and military engines, components and transmissions. The Opportunity An Engineering Project Lead position has become available within the Engineering and New Production Introduction (NPI) Team at Caterpillar Defense. This is an excellent opportunity to lead global Product Development Project Teams. It is a key position offering a real career growth opportunity working with multi-functional teams across the Caterpillar Enterprise. The Caterpillar Defense product portfolio consists of Components, Engines, Transmissions and Powerpacks, and includes new and remanufactured products. They have a wide range of Customers in the UK, and across all other continents. What You Will Do: An Engineering Project Lead at Caterpillar will be expected to lead the creation and execution of Business Unit focused Product Development Projects. This will be done by determining the project scope, establishing a costed project management plan to manage execution against the defined project scope, and where applicable, planning and managing the resources required for successful project execution. The timeliness and value of the introduction of engineering solutions and new products at the Shrewsbury facility is intrinsically linked to our growth and sustainability, so success is measured via key site metrics. The position will not have direct reports, however there is an expectation that they will be able to lead a diverse group of people to successfully complete all projects by: Developing project scope to address business challenges and opportunities Coordinating with the businesses, sales, marketing, and other engineering groups to manage resources for each deliverable within the project Overseeing project progress and costs; communicating status with stakeholders and participating functional areas; addressing and resolving problems Influencing project staffing; motivating and developing project team and team members Communicating with customers and managing expectations; ensuring effective use of project controls and reporting mechanisms What You Have: Technical Knowledge:

Level Working Knowledge: Knowledge of the policies and techniques to manage a set of related projects within a program; ability to plan, organise, monitor, and control the set of projects, ensuring efficient utilisation of technical and administrative resources to achieve program objectives. Top Candidates May Demonstrate: Engineering degree, HND or related technical discipline Project Management: 6Sigma, Prince2 or other project management methodologies 6Sigma, 8D or other specific problem-solving methodologies Knowledge of defence applications Additional Info : This role offers hybrid working, with a minimum requirement of 3 days in the office per week.
