Role Overview The engineering program manager shall be responsible for managing the programs/projects within the Cargo and Vehicle Inspection division of Rapiscan System Engineering. He/She should have the experience of managing new product development programs/projects across all functional disciplines. Responsibilities Managing the engineering delivery required for the revenue projects. Liaising with the revenue project managers to ensure the engineering technical spec and BoM can be released on time. Ensuring the revenue projects and the documentation release adhere to the company’s standard and processes. Leading the new product development projects from the initial concept, through the development process, prototype build, verification & validation, and eventual product launch. Creating and maintaining project schedule based on the project scope. Working with cross functional team to establish an achievable project plan and schedule. Facilitating regular project meeting to drive the project progress. Managing project critical path and prioritizing the work in critical path to maintain key project milestones. Monitoring and controlling project scope. Documenting project scope changes according to the process with the impact on the project timescale, budget, and quality. Managing risks and issues on the projects and applying the mitigations and resolutions. Escalating to the senior managers when the risks and issues are likely to threaten the project delivery. Organising the key stage review with the senior management team according to the process to ensure the project is heading to the right direction. Driving project decision making with appropriate cost benefit analysis. Ensuring the new product development process is adhered to and all the documentations are released according to the process. Conducting project lessons learned and identifying the opportunity to improve the processes and practice. Utilising and maintaining the project management tools, methods and templates to improve the consistency across all the projects. Providing weekly reporting and monthly project status update. Supporting the process and standard continuous improvement to aim and improve engineering standards, design processes, operational performance, and business sustainability. Qualifications A good communicator with excellent written and oral communication skills. Able to articulate to both internal engineers and external suppliers at all levels. An engineering background of mechanical, electrical, electronic and software. A Knowledge of X-ray Systems would be an advantage. Have managed Engineering Projects ideally across engineering disciplines with a proven track record of successfully released products. A team player who can get the best out of the team. Some overseas travel will be required on larger projects. Degree educated preferably Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering. Ideally PMP or similar PM professional qualification or PRINCE2 qualified. Ideally with an engineering background experience.
