GSL Education is in search of an energetic English Tutor to join a local school based in Dorchester immediately. You can start from April too. About the School: The school encompasses two sites in Dorchester with one common shared purpose: to provide the very best in education and support for all children who (for a variety of reasons) find themselves outside of mainstream school education. The school is an alternative provision that uses vocational and extracurricular methods to enable the students to gain functional and life skills. With a primary and secondary division, the school is inclusive of all ages and abilities and strives to give its pupils the best possible opportunities for post 16 life. About the Role: As an English Tutor, you will play a crucial role in fostering a positive and engaging learning environment. The ideal candidate is not only well-versed in the subject matter but also enthusiastic about making English literature and language studies accessible and enjoyable for students of varying abilities. Key Responsibilities: Deliver engaging and comprehensive English lessons aligned with the school's curriculum standards, ensuring that students are well-prepared for assessments and future academic challenges. Implement differentiated teaching strategies to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities within the classroom, ensuring that each student has the opportunity to excel. Utilise innovative and interactive teaching methods, incorporating technology and real-world applications to make English literature and language studies relevant and captivating for students. Regularly assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their academic growth. Collaborate with colleagues to analyse assessment data and refine teaching practices. Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters a love for literature and language, promoting respectful behaviour among students. Qualifications and Requirements: Bachelor's degree in English, or a related field; a master's degree is a plus. Teaching certification in English. PGCE/QTS/QTLS. Proven experience teaching English at the secondary level is preferred, not mandatory. Familiarity with and commitment to the principles of the school's curriculum. Skills: Ability to create engaging and informative lesson plans. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organisational and time-management skills. Effective classroom management. Problem-solving and analytical skills. Passion for teaching and inspiring students.
