This postholder is responsible for supporting students who are below track in English so that they can fully access the curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
To support students, who are below track in English, in 1:1 sessions and group sessions.
To support students to improve their communicative ability in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
To support students so that they are given the best opportunity to excel academically and socially in school without being impeded by a lack of English.
To liaise closely with the English department to help identify where interventions are required.
To liaise with the senior leadership team to timetable the interventions.
To support GCSE students (Year 10 and Year 11) with their home learning in study clubs.
To share knowledge about progress with class teachers.
Generic Responsibilities:
Being a positive and dynamic role model.
Share the school's drive to improve outcomes for students who are below track in English.
Willingness to take part in coaching, mentoring, and training.
A thorough understanding of safeguarding requirements.
Key Accountabilities:
The postholder is line managed by the Deputy Head (Curriculum).
Qualifications:
Very good pass in GCSE English.
A range of GCSEs with at least a good pass in each.
A-Level in English Language or English Literature (or equivalent).
Personal Qualities:
Able to build good relationships with pupils.
Hardworking, smart, and reliable.
Resilient, diligent, and persistent when problem solving.
Very well-organised.
Reflective and thoughtful with skills of critical analysis.
Proven ability to be an effective team member.
