As Asda's Enterprise Architect – Cloud & Technology you will be responsible for defining the long term strategic goals of the cloud, infrastructure, collaboration and service domains to be consciously aligned to Asda Group's fast paced strategic needs as a large UK retailer. You will create and actively advocate realistic roadmaps, holistic architectures and consistency through patterns aligned with peer EAs in integration, engineering, data and cyber security domains.

A critical part of the role is to lead and support a team of multi-skilled cloud and technology solution architects, encouraging an open, consultative approach to stakeholder engagement through collaborative outreach. Asda colleagues put their customers at the heart of everything, this means you and the team need to anticipate, adapt and respond to customer needs through the evolving technology strategies you will become responsible for.

Your responsibilities will include:

Defining and iterating enduring strategies for the cloud, technology and service platform domains

Providing technology leadership, mentorship and clear direction to an existing team of cloud and technology solution architects

Fostering an environment of cloud agility and innovation, considering both existing and forthcoming technologies and concepts, to support the engineering functions throughout Asda Group as they respond quickly to market change and disruption, while maintaining a suitable dimension of agility through architectural governance

Promoting domain roadmaps with peers and stakeholders throughout the department, such as product owners of discrete disciplines like cloud, ingress, networking, security and client/collaboration

Alignment with the overall vision of the Chief Technology Officer and head of architecture, and ensuring senior platform leaders and portfolio managers are advocating your resulting domain roadmaps through tangible outcomes

Being an active voice and maintaining authority about impacts on the cloud, infrastructure, collaboration and service domains at governance steering and architectural design forums. Upholding the use of existing and flagging requirements for new principles, policies and standards through platform control artifacts to guide others

Engaging with your peer EAs to understand and acknowledge where your platforms support Retail, Supply, eCommerce and Back Office/Finance/People domain needs

Maintaining knowledge of domain capability and products, supporting deduplication and simplification of systems and their management

Supporting the portfolio teams to deliver cost effective programme and project outcomes with architectural agility to meet timelines

Being part of an extended leadership team that drives positive change into the architecture function, Technology department, and wider organisation

About you:

Significant experience operating as an Enterprise or lead Architect in the cloud and infrastructure domains, within complex business, application and data environments

Practical knowledge of tooling that supports EA processes, governance and modelling concepts

Innovative and with a continuous learning mindset; you will be passionate about technology, its business value and driving adoption

Exposure to large scale cloud transformation programmes, experience with the people, process and technology change required

Excellent working knowledge of a cloud hyperscale ecosystem, ideally supported with certification

A background that includes practical engineering expertise in cloud, client and infrastructure technologies, as well as a strong opinion of the importance of modern service design and delivery processes

Good working knowledge within the development, information security and privacy domains, and application of this within the cloud, infrastructure, collaboration and service domains

The ability to concisely communicate complex technical concepts to a broad audience, relating them to business value
