Periodically update SRSA Environment Manager on Wales & Western work bank progress and high summary environmental/ecology risks; Work with SRSA Environment Manager to help achieve the annual Alliance environmental objectives within the Wales & Western region; Conduct environmental audits, inspections and 'safety/environmental' conversations as per the frequencies set by SRSA Environment Manager; Support SRSA Environment Manager on all Level 1 environmental investigations in the Wales & Western region; If required by SRSA Environment Manager, attend the Efficiency & Operations meeting and/or the Safety Supplier Forum (cover annual leave); Review and feedback on the environmental slides produced by SRSA Environment Manager for the Efficiency & Ops, Safety Supplier Forum and MBR forum; Work closely with approved ecology suppliers in respect to obtaining quotes, seeking advice/guidance, reviewing technical reports, and supervising/shadowing on site work; Provide on-site advice and support to the operational teams on environmental matters such as project specific mitigation measures including pollution control and ecology protection; Promote a positive environmental sustainability culture through proactive engagement and communications with the project teams; Ensure on site compliance with environmental legislation and coach teams in applying controls and mitigations; Liaise with regulatory bodies and supply chain on any environmental permit, license, or consent requirements; Review Environmental and Social Appraisal Plans and undertake Desk-Based Assessment to review the environmental and social aspects and impacts of the works. This will support identification of mitigation and controls required to be implemented to avoid/minimise negative impact on the environment and communities in which we operate; Produce and update Project Specific Environmental and Social Management Plans and Site Waste Management Plans; Assist Project Teams in reviewing and updating project related Work Package Plans and risk assessments with environmental recommendations; Keep up to date with standards and legislative changes and where applicable recommend changes to SRSA Environment Manager; Deliver environmental training, toolbox talks and undertake onsite coaching to staff and supply chain (this can also be support via PDR's); Maintain records, minutes, registers and data as required for specific projects; Collate and report key environmental data for project environmental KPI's (Wales & Western region) as set by SRSA Environment Manager; Minimum Requirements:
Degree qualified in relevant subject; environmental management, environmental science, geography; Knowledge and understanding of relevant codes of practice and industry standards and have broad understanding of environmental legislation; Experience of technical report writing and ability to draft technical reports under guidance to an acceptable technical quality; Takes ownership and accountability for a wide range of relevant environmental tasks and manages through to successful completion; Good communicator and able to influence others investigation and auditing techniques; Ability to effectively manage conflicting priorities; Full UK Driving Licence and flexibility to travel; Literate in MS Office - Word, Excel, Outlook; Good interpersonal skills.
