The Role This role involves analysing environmental data to provide information for use by Internal CAA stakeholders and or government clients in the development of public policy/Insights relating to the environmental impacts of aviation, for the purposes of aviation noise, Decarbonisation, Air Quality, and wider environmental management of impacts. As part of this role travel may be required for attending noise measurement campaigns, providing advisory services and/or attending meetings/fora. The majority of such activities would be in the UK, but some may be overseas. Undertake accurate, methodical, and well-documented numerical and textual analysis using a range of platforms and tools in the field of aviation noise or CO2 emissions and other environmental impacts. Produce written and numerical outputs, according to the CAA’s brand and drafting guidance. Actively develop knowledge of, and capability to use, acoustics or environmental impact principles, practices, and equipment. Actively contribute to the modernisation of systems, tools, and practices, with a view to raising efficiency and effectiveness (including quality). Engage with colleagues across the CAA as necessary, and with group-wide and organisation-wide activities and initiatives. About You To be considered for this role you should have: Some relevant academic or professional experience of data analysis is essential, preferably in the field of environmental impacts and mitigation with a focus on Air Quality, and especially desirable if this is specifically related to aviation. Analytical and data management skills, with knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Excel, Power Bi are essential; and experience of using SQL databases and IPSS would be desirable. Coding skills are essential, preferably with experience in using R, IPSS and or Python. Practical experience of working collaboratively with others across internal and external multi-disciplinary groups What Can We Offer You? Additional Information For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.
