We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual specialising in food and safety to join our environmental health team on a part-time basis. About the role

You will have a key role in a small, highly motivated and competent environmental health team, inspecting premises, investigating complaints and service requests, and when appropriate, taking enforcement action to fulfil our statutory duties in relation to food safety, occupational health and safety, and infectious disease control. You will also take part in the team's sampling programme. We aim to make the district a safe place to work, live, and visit by delivering good quality, high value-for-money services with good control and compliance with statutory obligations - come join a friendly team and help us achieve our goals. The role is part-time, and we understand how important it is to achieve a work-life balance; we are able to offer flexibility with regard to working hours. About you

With a degree or diploma in Environmental Health or a Higher Certificate in Food Control, along with significant experience in food safety and health and safety regulation, you will be able to meet the competencies for authorised Food Officers in accordance with the Food Law Code of Practice to carry out inspections in the full range of risk bands. Able to deal confidently with a wide range of customers, including businesses and members of the public, you will interpret legislation and guidance to resolve complaints and/or provide guidance to customers. Highly organised and able to prioritise your own workload, you will ensure deadlines are met and a high level of customer service is always provided. An offer of employment is conditional upon having the right to work in the UK. Huntingdonshire District Council does not hold a Sponsorship Licence and is unable to provide a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) or take over sponsorship for any role.
