Our Purpose The Commercial Regulatory Team is a multi-disciplined team who ensure businesses compliance across North East Lincolnshire. The area is a local, national and international hub of food manufacturing, storage and distribution, with one of the busiest ports in the UK. It is a really exciting time to be joining our team as we transform our services in response to the UK’s departure from the European Union. This is a unique opportunity to join one of the few local authorities to deliver official controls across the borough and at the border. The Role You will be part of a multi-disciplined team, responsible for ensuring business compliance with environmental health, trading standards and port health legislation. Key elements of the roles include: Enforcement of relevant food safety, health and safety, port health legislation. Deliver official food controls on imports of fishery products and other high-risk food and feed at the Grimsby & Immingham Border Control Post. Assist portal official veterinarians with delivering official controls on product of animal origin imports. Certify the health status of fishery products exports from North East Lincolnshire to destinations around the world. About You We are looking for decision makers who are self-motivated and have excellent planning and organizing, investigation, inspection, advisory, statistical and enforcement skills. The ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal effectiveness particularly with regard to reading situations in which they may find themselves where a clear, consistent judgement of that situation will be required. This will be underpinned by effective legal, technical and knowledge of good practice in order to play an active role in securing food safety compliance within the Authority. Qualifications It will be essential to have either a degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in Environmental Health, or a Higher Certificate in Food Control (equivalent to HNC level) or equivalent qualification recognised by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and/or Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) with

years’ experience in a food and safety field. Previous experience or relevant qualifications in health and safety enforcement is desirable. You will also be committed to continuing personal and professional development including maintaining authorised officer competencies and CPD requirements of the Statutory Food Law Code of Practice. There will also be an expectation that following appointment you will complete the training and qualification process to be authorised as an Official Fish Inspector. * Applications will be considered from trainees; however, you will be required to have completed your academic studies, CDP and professional interview to undertake this role.
