Who we are looking for: As the Environment Health & Safety Officer you will be responsible for maintaining a safe & healthy work environment, minimizing risks, and adhering to health and safety regulations. What you will do: Developing and implementing policies and procedures. Training and communication. Monitoring and reporting to both internal portals and external bodies. Environmental protection by managing waste disposal, emissions, and effluent discharge, ensuring stringent compliance with all pertinent environmental regulations. Emergency response coordination. Legal compliance and keeping updated with legislation. Employee well-being. Continuous improvement benchmarking against industry best practices and integrating innovative methods and technologies to progress organizational safety and environmental performance. Collaborating with the operational teams to ensure EHS standards are met and to support the promotion of EHS improvements. Setting EHS compliance objectives and ensuring that operational targets are achieved. Development of the integrated QMS and EHS Management Systems; ensuring they are implemented; and that internal audits are completed, and non-conformances/action plans are implemented, in accordance with the agreed schedule. Establishing and maintaining controls and documentation procedures. Assisting with customers’ auditors and supporting the execution of corrective actions and compliance with customers’ specifications. Ensuring that external 3rd party accreditation to relevant standards (i.e., 9001, 14001, 18001/45001, ISO50001 etc.) are completed to a satisfactory level of compliance. Collating and analysing performance data and KPIs against defined parameters and ensuring alignment to the business SDP’s and TTI’s. EHS incident investigations and the recording of incidents in a timely manner. Ensuring that all operations have suitable and sufficient risk assessments, SWPs, and SOPs, and that they are regularly reviewed. Conducting routine site tours to ensure all safety, fire, security, and environmental standards are being complied with. Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics. Inspecting premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g., not using protective equipment). Auditing production, keeping on the lookout for any unsafe behaviors or breaks in regulations. Preparing reports on occurrences and providing statistical information to upper management. Recording incidents and accidents and producing statistics for managers. In-depth knowledge of legislation (e.g., HSE) and procedures. Creating safety plans that include suggested improvements to existing procedures. Liaising with law enforcement and other investigators who are present at the time of a serious accident. What you bring: GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English. Recognized EHS Industry qualification. Strong analytical and problem-solving techniques (5-why, 8D, kaizen, etc.). In-depth knowledge of 14001 and 45001 standards. Min 3-5 years’ experience in an EHS field, preferably in a similar environment. Experience of day-to-day EHS management in a medium to large organization. Understanding of business strategies and dealing with corporate requirements. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Excellent people skills. Proficient in both Word and Excel. Ability to demonstrate influencing skills. Well-organized with a customer-oriented approach. Demonstrable ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines. Must be able to work on own initiative and be able to make decisions and solve problems that are general in nature and for which there are precedents. Benefits: 25 days annual leave.
