Our client, a prominent entity within the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking an Environmental Project Engineer to join their team on a contract basis in Stevenage. This role is integral to the project teams within Environmental Engineering, covering land, sea, and air-based weapons system projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Interface with project teams to define requirements, develop strategies, and collate evidence to underwrite designs. Define the environments that the products will encounter in service. Support other functions and projects in developing robust designs and efficient proving strategies. Generate evidence to demonstrate that products will meet customer's environmental requirements. Work closely with Systems Engineering, Architecture, Design, and Proving teams to build relationships and ensure requirements are delivered to plan. Act as a technical interface with customers in the delivery of technical work packages. Plan, deliver, and monitor assigned work packages, making engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority.

Specific Role Responsibilities:

Serve as the primary contact for technical details related to environmental engineering arising from offsite trials and communicate these into the business. Manage day-to-day activities from project kick-off to project completion of an environmental test programme. Provide guidance to the offsite trials facility to ensure the requirements of the Environmental Proving Requirement are met. Assist in troubleshooting and provide solutions towards the progression of trial activities. Cover reporting requirements for the project and communicate areas of concern within the offsite trials site and the business. Regularly travel to the trials site to support in-person meetings and data reviews.

Job Requirements:

Experience in planning, managing, and delivering small to medium-sized work packages. Knowledge of environmental engineering within the defence sector or relevant industry. Understanding of vibration, shock, temperature, and humidity environments, and their applicability to different products at different life cycle stages. Familiarity with international Environmental Standards (e.g., DEF STAN 00-035, AECTP 300, AECTP 400, Mil-std 810). Analytical mind and excellent problem-solving skills. Strong verbal and written communication abilities. Effective at working in teams with strong interpersonal skills.
