We have vacancies within our Clinical Navigator team in the EOC (Emergency Operations Centre) at both the York and Wakefield EOC locations and we are looking for talented individuals. You would be acting in either the upstream or downstream position providing clinical oversight and support to all incidents within a specified area. Clinical Navigators are a key role within the EOC in ensuring the safety of waiting patients. They will be expected to use a variety of approaches based on the operating context at the time to mitigate any risk those waiting patients might be experiencing. This would include contacting the patient or their representative by phone or video link, considering the ordering of incidents waiting, utilising other providers, and identifying incidents that might benefit from a different response than a double crewed ambulance. This role is offered as a full-time permanent role. As a department we could consider secondment or rotational roles with operations. We would consider part-time working but any reduction in hours or flexibility we could offer would be limited given our operating constraints. Course start dates from April 2025 onwards. Main duties of the job

You will be focused on managing clinical demand pro-actively within the area assigned. This would be working with agreed policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), as well as following guidelines and utilising decision-support tools when necessary. This would be supporting significant experience in urgent and emergency care, ideally with significant pre-hospital experience. You will support the dispatch team as a clinical specialist allowing them to ensure that resourcing of incidents balances the needs of individual patients, with the need to ensure an effective response across the geographical area; this will require sound clinical decision-making to prioritise the use of resources at times of high demand managing risk in a way that maximises safety. You will be the first point of contact for some of our partner agencies and will need to develop and maintain a strong working relationship with those agencies. About us

Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) NHS Trust geographically covers nearly 6,000 square miles of varied terrain, from isolated moors and dales to urban areas, coastline and inner cities. We employ more than 7,100 staff, who together with over 1,300 volunteers, enable us to provide a vital 24-hour, seven-days-a-week, emergency and healthcare service. Our ambition is to be an employer of choice, and we are continuously working across our partnership to improve our collective offer to staff in areas like health and wellbeing, benefits and flexible working incl. hybrid working. Flexible working including part-time hours, job shares and flexible hours, agile working (role dependant) 27 days annual leave, increasing to 33 with service. Contributory Pension. Car lease and other salary sacrifice schemes. Dedicated employee assistance and counselling service. Opportunities for research participation, career progression and ongoing development. Well respected, committed and supported staff networks for our workforce. Job responsibilities

To enable us to meet the future needs for our services we have invested significantly in our Emergency Operations Centre's at Wakefield and York and have embarked on a period of change which is aligning our emergency and urgent care services with those of the wider healthcare economy. This is an exciting opportunity for innovative upcoming clinicians who can demonstrate ambition, continuous professional development and who possess a natural propensity to lead on clinical excellence. To be successful in this role you should be a registered professional (for example, a registered Nurse or Paramedic). For full details please see the attached Job Description. If you are invited to interview for this position, part of your interview will include a scenario based assessment. Person Specification
