About Us
We are an independent equine practice looking for a fifth full-time vet to work in an ambulatory role with an increasing amount of in-clinic work. Our fifth vet, who is part-time, is leaving to do an internship.
We are an independent practice with a diverse client base. We have good facilities for dentistry, some stud work, lameness work, and standing surgery, including an indoor trot-up. We are in the process of planning the last part of our clinic which will include a knock-down box and operating theatre for elective surgery. We have a strong team with a lot of experience, and the incoming vet would be well supported. We are happy for vets to work together when needed, and we aim to have a culture of good communication.
The practice is in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is half an hour from the coast, with excellent road and rail links. Good local schools are available for anyone with children.
The Role
The role is full-time, primarily ambulatory, but we encourage in-clinic lameness workup, non-routine dentistry, gastroscopy, etc. We cover our own out-of-hours calls, and this would be a 1:5 rota of weekends and weeknights, which is generally not too busy. We try hard to be accommodating to everyone’s needs, especially in planning the rota and holidays.
The practice is located near Wellington, Somerset; between Taunton and Exeter. We cover an area approximately 25 miles radius around the clinic.
Successful Candidate
Vet with 3+ years’ experience. Experience in lameness and dentistry would be an advantage, and continued development is supported. Long-term prospects are available but not a necessity; we are very open to ideas about how this could be achieved.
The Package
Salary £45,000 - £55,000 depending on experience
CPD funded
RCVS, VDS, and BEVA memberships paid
25 days holiday plus bank holidays in lieu, half day off following your weekend on duty
