ESG Risk Manager Frankfurt or London (f/m/x)

Deutsche Bank (“the bank”) views sustainability, which encompasses environmental, social, and governance (“ESG”) aspects, as a key opportunity. It is a central component of our “Compete to win” strategy and we are increasingly embedding sustainability into our products, policies, and processes. The Chief Risk Office function has Group-wide responsibility for the management and control of all credit, market, operational, reputational, enterprise and liquidity risks and has the responsibility of continual development of methods for risk measurement, frameworks and creating a bank wide strong risk culture. Non-Financial Risk Management (‘NFRM’) is a department within the Risk Division. As a Second Line of Defence function, NFRM is responsible for oversight across all aspects of non-financial risk (‘NFR’), including risk identification and assessment, control framework, risk appetite and scenario analysis. The role sits in the NFR Environmental, Social & Governance (‘ESG’) Risk Management and Reputational Risk Framework team. The team is responsible for the integration and ongoing risk management of ESG within the NFR frameworks, including the associated policies, policy adherence, metrics, reporting and minimum control standards. In addition, the team is responsible for the Reputational Risk Framework policy documentation, framework adherence, reporting and minimum control/governance standards. This is an exciting opportunity for a high calibre individual to perform a proactive risk management role to support setting the bank's non-financial risk management approach to ESG. The topic requires close collaboration across both Business Divisions and Control Functions given the broad scope of the topic and would suit an individual who can think strategically about ESG matters, relate them to risk management and then work across the organisation to help support the bank’s risk management capabilities. The candidate will be exposed to senior stakeholders across all regions and businesses in the Bank. They will be responsible for owning several key tasks and delivering projects that are presented to senior management and oversight committees, working closely with a varied and global DB network. This role would be an excellent opportunity for any experienced Risk Manager who has a good awareness of ESG and is keen to develop an in-depth understanding of how to apply these to risk management in a global financial institution. Your key responsibilities Playing a critical role in developing the bank's non-financial risk control environment for ESG considerations. This can include: supporting the integration of ESG within the bank's non-financial risk management frameworks; challenging the bank’s ESG non-financial risk control and governance landscape whilst providing constructive proposed solutions; and, leading the ownership of the associated ESG policy documents. Providing updates to senior stakeholders and forums on initiatives and topics for the above. Other tasks include analytical deep-dives, change initiatives, maintaining stakeholder dialogue and support for the team as projects arise. Your skills and experience Several years of experience in a similar analysis and risk role with an understanding of risk management processes, preferably in the operational risk, particularly from a framework, risk and controls perspective. Experience of dealing with stakeholders within a high pressured and dynamic environment, with strong oral and written skills to understand and clearly communicate complex issues to senior management. Awareness of the regulatory guidance and key topics across different markets relating to ESG and sustainability. Keen eye for detail and ability to work to deadlines, naturally proactive and willing to take responsibility for the successful delivery of initiatives. Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken). Ability to work across a diverse group of stakeholders within a complex organisation and to quickly develop strong working relationships with a broad range of functions, whilst playing a supporting role across the team on various projects and tasks.
