All patients referred will be triaged by an ESP, who will direct patients to the right clinician, first time. This may include physiotherapy, ESP opinion for diagnostics, onward secondary care referral or AHP referral. As an ESP, you are responsible for delivering a leading standard of musculoskeletal physiotherapy assessment, triage and care to a varied selection of NHS patients. You will work as a Frontline ESP in various locations, as part of a wider integrated community physiotherapy service. You will be required to perform frontline patient screening with direct referrals from GPs, care navigation and self-referrals using expert assessment and diagnosis to determine which clinical pathway will be most suitable for the patient. You will also be required to provide expert clinical assessment, diagnosis and management of your caseload. From initial assessment you will be responsible and accountable for devising, reviewing and completing appropriate treatment management programs to the patient population, in order to gain successful clinical outcomes, in line with your regulatory body's standards of professional practice. You must be able to demonstrate excellent assessment and clinical reasoning skills that this post will require, within a variety of musculoskeletal, orthopedic, rheumatology and general health conditions. You will need: Highly developed differential diagnostic skills to ensure patients are managed safely, efficiently and effectively. Good communication skills with a variety of people, conditions and within demanding situations. Clear evidence of team working and the ability to develop effective and efficient services. Experience of electronic patient records and telephone triage will be an advantage. Ability to direct the care pathway for your patients autonomously, including assessment and diagnostics, provision of diagnosis, appropriate self-care advice or onward referral as indicated. Familiar with the IRMER, when and which diagnostics are suitable and will be confident in explaining their use and implications to patients. Injection trained, or willing to undertake this. Demonstrate commitment for the role with a strong desire to continually improve as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist, developing a culture that improves quality initiating, promoting and monitoring systems which govern and improve quality.
