Duties & Responsibilities:

To facilitate the implementation of a planned preventative maintenance system and ensure an equitable standard of all routine checks and replacements. Lead on the service, test, diagnose and repair, where practical, mechanical and electrical installations, plant and equipment.

To ensure an accurate and consistent standard of recording test results as set out in current hospital standards and legislation.

To lead on Fire Safety and Site Security liaising closely with the H&S Lead.

To ensure robust site level project management on any relevant local projects; either instructed and run locally or instructed central projects.

To lead on the emergency maintenance team outside normal working hours by organising weekend cover for essential maintenance and contractor supervision. In addition, you will be expected to provide call-out cover for each site on a rota basis.

To carry out any other duty that reasonably falls within the general nature and level of responsibility of the lead post.

To be visible and accessible to all healthcare colleagues across all disciplines as a specialist engineering resource.

To chair/attend the appropriate committees such as Water Safety Management, Ventilation, Medical Gas Management, Waste Management and attend other governance and engineering meetings.

Develop strong working relationships and escalation pathways to hospital SMT and Regional Engineer.

To be the hospital Approved Person, or ensure that the hospital has an AP for:

Piped Medical Gases

Water Safety

Low Voltage Electrical Services

Decontamination equipment

What we are looking for:

The post holder should have an advanced electrical, plumbing or engineering background. This should include some experience in building services. Training in all other aspects of the post will be provided.

Specific Skills required:

Previous experience of working within a hospital equipment is essential.

A good level of interpersonal and communication skills.
