Duties
Oversee and be hands-on with planned and reactive maintenance activities across several sites in Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire, to ensure timely project delivery. Oversee, manage, and take a hands-on approach with building maintenance, restoration, and renovation projects. Complete minor electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and landscaping works. Liaise with and build effective working relationships with colleagues, sub-contractors, architects, and tenants. Effectively coordinate, organise, and manage sub-contractors and materials required. Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, environmental regulations, and internal policies, conducting regular audits and risk assessments. Manage budget, including planning and monitoring expenditure on maintenance and repairs, as well as procurement of all materials and sub-contractors' quotes. Be available to attend sites/properties at short notice and outside of contracted working hours on the rare occasion it is necessitated by the business. Always maintain all sites and properties to a standard of excellence.
Skills / Experience Proven experience within a hands-on estates and/or facilities management role, ideally with both domestic and commercial properties. Experienced and versatile multi-skilled trades person with a construction or property maintenance background. Proven experience managing and overseeing small building works and renovation projects. Being physically fit and mobile, with a desire to be hands-on with all and any maintenance tasks is essential. Strong financial acumen, with experience managing budgets and controlling costs effectively. Strong communication, leadership, and management skills, with a proven ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, contractors, and tenants. Excellent organisational and solution-providing skills. Proficiency in IT systems and software. Ability to multi-task and delegate effectively. Comfortable working to tight deadlines and at times delivering results under pressure.
