Main duties of the job

Responsible for the provision and management of effective operational estates services in accordance with current best practice, risk management techniques and in line with Health Technical Memorandums / Health Building Notices.

Day to day management and supervision of operational estates staff within the Estates Department and also external contractors.

Maintaining the infrastructure and critical services to enable patients to be treated in a clean, safe and pleasant environment.

Responsible for managing and complying with all statutory instruments related to all estates infrastructure and engineering services.

To manage contracts, both internal and external, in addition to the directly employed workforce, to ensure the delivery of operational services.

Person Specification Qualifications

Engineering Related HNC/HND in Electrical or mechanical services, engineering or building skills or equivalent qualification and experience.

Evidence of continuing professional development.

Apprenticeship in electrical, mechanical, plumbing or building trade.

Management experience of changes within teams

Good IT skills and working knowledge of MS Office suite of products - Word / Excel etc.

Awareness of Health and Safety in a maintenance environment.

In depth knowledge of Statutory compliance.

Demonstrable management / supervision experience.

Demonstrable experience of maintenance planning and management.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skill at all levels.

Good management and leadership qualities with ability to lead teams.

Able to deal effectively with other professional staff.

Self-motivator Drive and persistence.

Ability to work in close cooperation with other disciplines.

Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

Use own initiative.

Member of IHEEM / CIBSE / IET etc.

Previous Healthcare environment experience.

Competent with CAFM systems and management of Reactive and PPM work.

Knowledge and experience of Handheld devices for use with CAFM system.

Sound knowledge of NHS technical documents, British standards, regulations, legislation, and codes of practice.

Authorised Person or equivalent for engineering installations or systems.
