Estimator / Quantity Surveyor

on behalf of their clients based in West Bromwich.

The Estimator / Quantity Surveyor will be joining the commercial department and providing an estimating service calculating costs of carrying out projects.

An excellent remuneration package is available to a suitable candidate and can be discussed. The salary range for this role is between £50,000pa to £70,000pa experience dependent.

Experience, skills and qualifications required:

Construction industry trade experience and knowledge Ability to communicate, verbally and written Ability to confidently advise and influence at all levels Ability to forward plan Excellent organisation skills Numerical skills for calculations and analysis Experience within a QS / Estimating role previously

Duties: Analyse tenders and job specifications to ensure all required information for calculating costs is included. Communicate with client, architects, consultants and/or contracts team for clarification as required. Calculate final figure for the estimated cost, supplemented by adjustments for overheads and profit, presenting a tender price. Compile estimates for projects/tenders as per agreed format. Carry out negotiations with sub-contract trades for achievement of best cost of value. Refine specifications to provide for better production, lower costs, and better suitability to meet job requirements. Produce accurate tender analysis for production elements when required. Award orders in agreement with contracts team and purchasing manager based on time required, price and quality of work. Where necessary survey sites to ensure familiarity with the work being carried out and the environment. Develop and maintain good working relationships with third party consultants, architects, building control, sub-contractors etc. Produce all cost information, sub-contract quotations, labour analysis for handover to the Contracts Manager.

Responsibilities: Work closely with Directors reporting key aspects of Estimating/QS function of the business. Develop accounts with new clients and existing. Analyse job appraisals, determine accuracy of standards and reporting variances. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with site agents, contracts team, sub-contractors and all other employees. Managing the Quantity Surveying function, providing advice and support, post and pre contract. Monitoring projects and costs from pre contract to final agreements. Overseeing Contract Law, reviewing and assessing risks on framework plus contract documentation and liaise with Directors.
