Zeal Recruitment are excited to be working in partnership with a highly regarded Main Contractor and helping them find a motivated and detail-oriented Estimator/QS to join their team. You will be responsible for accurately estimating project costs, preparing tender submissions, and managing all aspects of project cost control. Your expertise will help ensure the projects are delivered on time and to the highest standards.
Responsibilities
Estimating Analyse tender documents, specifications and drawings to produce accurate cost estimates. Identify project risks and provide value engineering solutions to optimise costs. Source and obtain quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
QS Prepare detailed bids of quantities and cost plans. Monitor and control project budgets, ensuring cost efficiency. Assess and approve variations, claims and contractual changes. Conduct site visits to ensure alignment with financial forecasts. Compile and submit monthly valuations and accounts.
As the Estimator/QS you will be:
Work closely with project managers, site teams and clients to ensure accurate cost control. Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers. Prepare detailed reports for the senior team. Provide advice on claims and disputes as and when necessary.
Minimum Requirements
Degree in Quantity Surveying. Proven experience as an Estimator/QS ideally with a main contractor. Strong understanding of construction methods, contracts and industry regulations. Excellent numerical and analytical skills. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specs.
Personal Attributes
Strong negotiation and communication skills. High attention to accuracy. Ability to work under pressure. Team-oriented. Be based from their Birmingham location, but some flexibility will be needed with travel.
