The National Energy System Operator (NESO) is now looking for an EV & Storage Manager to be part of the Zero Carbon Operation team. This role will coordinate and lead NESO’s work to better understand, explain and manage the likely impacts on electricity system operability of a rapid increase in electric vehicles (EVs) and energy storage. EVs and Storage will affect most areas of NESO responsibility, so the role requires a broad understanding of all the NESO functions and how they interact, plus an ability to develop a deeper understanding in any of them as required. The sector is moving fast, and a core part of the role is about pushing into the unknown. The scope of the EV & Storage team will often be ambiguous and fluid. You will need to regularly reassess the priorities and lead the team through this ambiguity. This role can be based from Wokingham, Warwick or Glasgow and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home. We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements. Key accountabilities

Ensure operability risks of rapid growth in EVs and storage devices connecting to the GB electricity system are identified and managed. Engage key stakeholders, both internally and externally, to manage operability risks, and create opportunities that are strongly aligned with NESO’s strategic objectives. Maintain a strong two-way understanding of how EVs and storage will affect system operation at transmission and distribution levels. Lead the delivery of operability guidance related to EVs and storage, working closely with operational areas within NESO including: Market Development, Code Change teams, Network Operability, Network Access Planning and the ENCC. Work closely with Strategy and Policy teams to develop NESO positions by providing expert advice on operability aspects of EVs and storage. Support work within and outside NESO to develop and amend relevant codes and frameworks. Support other teams within the Zero Carbon Operation function, providing and accepting capacity and capability to work flexibly as required. Identify and prepare for related future areas of zero carbon operability that the team will need to grow into. About you

Can deliver excellent performance in modelling and data analysis within their team. About what you'll get

A competitive salary between £59,000 - £89,000 – dependent on experience and capability. As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance, 28 days annual leave as standard, and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
