Why LNER?

Our vision is to be the most loved, progressive and responsible way to travel for generations to come, and we're looking for the people who can deliver this, every day.

Since we took over the East Coast route, we've been changing the face of travel. Our new fleet of Azuma trains are delivering faster journey times, more space, comfort and greater reliability. Our exciting plans to embrace new ideas, experiences, backgrounds and ambitions make this the ideal time to join.

Bringing passion. Being bold. Always caring. Owning it. They're the values that make us LNER.

Are you on board?

What you'll be doing: We have an exciting opportunity for an Events Manager to join our Communications team on a fixed term basis for 12 months. As our Events Manager, you'll work with colleagues, stakeholders and agencies to organise, through creativity and skilful relationship building, tailored events across the UK for LNER, ensuring a unique experience for all our stakeholders. In addition to this, you will contribute to the success of major internal and external events, providing support to the business both directly through project management, and indirectly through advice to internal organisers of small events.

You'll also be involved in:

Making event recommendations across our business, from key internal events including Legends – our annual recognition awards, Managers' Conferences and Loyalty Awards to external PR and Stakeholder events.

Liaising with key stakeholders, ensuring our events really strike a note with our VIPs, customers, media etc.

Contributing to planning and execution of events from conception through to completion whilst managing budgets.

Ensuring EqIAs are submitted for events.

Working with the Safety and Environment team to ensure that the events validation process is followed for all events and that the required safety arrangements are implemented and managed effectively.

Managing suppliers – logistics, sourcing, ensuring we work with local suppliers to give LNER events a high standard of delivery. Building a network of suppliers that we can partner with and trust to deliver across each event we run.

Managing the logistics or being responsible for managing the agency hired to organise the logistics and suggest areas of improvement.

Ensuring colleagues across the business are fully briefed on the details of each event, including what is required of them, ahead of each event to ensure they run smoothly.

Does this sound like the ideal opportunity for you? We're looking for an individual who has proven experience within a similar role of delivering events of varying scales. You'll also have:

Demonstrable project management skills.

Supplier engagement and relationship building experience.

Experience of working in a challenging industry with fast-changing requirements.

Regional UK knowledge to ensure events connect with the right audience.

An interest in the transport sector.

Enthusiasm for customer experience.

This role can be based in either London, York or Edinburgh and it will involve travel across our East Coast route. There will also be the need to work occasional weekends and evenings to deliver events as required.

What you'll get:

Free travel on LNER + 75% off tickets with other train companies (for you and dependents)

Discounted international train tickets (after one year's service)

50% discount on LNER tickets for friends and family

Generous final salary pension scheme

Annual cycle to work scheme

Discounts, savings and cashback scheme from top retailers

Health and wellbeing schemes and discounts

Host of training opportunities to help further your career

Rewards and awards to recognise when you shine

What we believe: To be the most loved, progressive and responsible train operating company, we must make a meaningful difference – always doing what's right for our customers, our people, the communities and destinations we serve, the future of the industry we lead and the environment we cherish.

We know that our people are the beating heart of everything we do. We are committed to creating an inclusive, engaged culture that supports everyone at every stage of their journey – and ensures that when you're at LNER, you can always be you. No wonder most people never want to leave!

Diversity and inclusion We are passionate about creating a diverse and inclusive workforce, representative of the communities we serve, and are creating ways to inspire diverse talent to join LNER.

Developing our people We are focused on creating a learning culture, to support our people to be the best they can be at work by providing them with the tools and resources to navigate their development and career journey.

Health & wellbeing To create a culture where our people can perform at their best, the physical health and mental wellbeing of our people is of paramount importance to us.

What next? As we say, we have fantastic opportunities for ambitious people from all sorts of different backgrounds, so now is the time to join the team at LNER – without delay!
