The Evidence Emergency project is a critical initiative within the Wildlife Trusts federation aimed at addressing the urgent need for

robust, data-driven decision-making in conservation efforts.

This project recognises the growing importance of digital technologies and data analytics in understanding and protecting wildlife and habitats across the UK. Funded by Heritage Fund, the project's main goals include enhancing the collection, analysis, and sharing of ecological data across the Wildlife Trusts network, as well as developing innovative digital solutions to support conservation work. It seeks to build capacity for data-driven decision-making while fostering a culture of innovation and knowledge sharing across the federation. A key part of the project is supporting the development of the Wildlife Trust’s Centre of Excellence which will serve to highlight a variety of evidence-based, innovative projects across the federation from which others can learn. We need a Project Officer with an in-depth understanding of digital technologies and data analytics, an awareness of the context of the UK nature crisis, project management experience and use of project software together with communication skills, an adaptable, flexible approach and a firm belief in evidence-led conservation. The role will be responsible for delivering key components of the Evidence Emergency project and supporting the development of the Centre of Excellence, as well as furthering the internal integration of evidence-based practice into SWT. Our offices are in Pirbright, Leatherhead and Wisley and our hybrid working policy aims to provide a good work/life balance which can incorporate partial home working.

The salary offered to successful applicants will form part of a benefits package including: above minimum pension contributions, life assurance of 4 x salary, employee support scheme, 22+ days holiday, flexible/hybrid working policy. This role is 21 hours per week on a short-term contract basis between April 2025 and December 2026.
