The Angelou Centre has become a pivotal strategic organisation regionally and nationally, having spent three decades developing and delivering innovative holistic models of support for black and minoritised women and children. Our Strategic Aims are: To develop projects and services facilitating black and minoritised women’s and children’s safety and survival. To build the capacity of black and minoritised women to fulfil their potential: economically, socially and politically. To engage in strategic partnerships, networks and consortia to ensure access, progression, achievement, voice and choice for black and minoritised women in the North East. The Executive Director is primarily responsible for leading the successful development and delivery of the Angelou Centre’s strategic objectives, providing direction and oversight of execution of operational plans, underpinned with strong financial stability. The Executive Director will provide inspirational and effective leadership, be the public face of The Angelou Centre, and raise awareness of its mission and strategic objectives locally, regionally and nationally. They will also ensure compliance with legal and good practice requirements in financial management, governance, HR, procurement, fundraising, and grant management. We are seeking a highly motivated, skilled and experienced leader with a track record of success at senior levels whose personal qualities closely align with the vision, ethos and values of The Angelou Centre and black feminism.
