The Executive Director of Business Development will be a strategic business partner responsible for leading sales efforts toward developing and expanding new business opportunities within our biotech segment while leveraging and maintaining existing business. This individual will be responsible for leading a team of Business Development Directors responsible for identifying, growing and maintaining strategic accounts while supporting the development of operational solutions that deliver on our clients’ commercial strategy.

This position steers the overall growth initiatives, securing key strategic partnerships, and driving substantial revenue growth. Success in this role is measured by the ability to lead a high-performing team, achieve significant sales and market expansion targets, and contribute to the company's leadership position in the industry.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Commercial Strategy Development

Define and execute the business development strategy to support long term growth and profitability Collaborate with leadership to align business development objectives with corporate goals Develop and implement strategic account plans and partnerships with key accounts. Analyze market trends, customer needs and competitive intelligence to identify new opportunities

Team Leadership Set and monitor performance goals for the business development team, ensuring alignment with the broader company objectives Drive the team's pipeline, forecast and analyze key sales metrics Provide leadership and coaching to a team of business development directors fostering a culture of excellence and accountability Function as an advisor to the team troubleshooting and resolving internal and external issues

Sales Targets & Client Acquisition Identify, assess and prioritize new opportunities and partnerships Achieve annual team sales plan and individual sales targets for assigned accounts through proactive sales activity and networking with assigned potential and existing accounts Assign accounts, territories and forecast individual territory sales goals. Assist sales team in developing internal and external relationships and identifying new market opportunities Work closely with sales leaders in other business units to develop joint opportunities and relationships with clients Facilitate negotiation of margin and pricing discussions both internally and externally Facilitate strong internal relationships and communication with operational colleagues Support in developing global MSAs and preferred provider status with target clients

Qualifications (Minimum Required): Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic qualification Proven track record in winning new business contracts and growing existing accounts Experience in strategic partnerships and complex contract negotiations Thorough knowledge and understanding of the principles of drug discovery and drug development Strong understanding of commercialization, deal terms and conditions associated with various models of drug development Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and Salesforce.com skills Strong leadership experience in leading and presenting to executives and senior levels of the client organization Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team of Business Development Directors Strong financial acumen: delivering business results in a commercial environment; budgeting; financial planning and reporting Demonstrated executive presence and proven skill to influence at all levels of the organization Ability to work collaboratively within a matrixed team environment

Experience (Minimum Required): Extensive experience in business development within the Clinical Research, Pharma and/or Biotech industry Significant experience in senior leadership roles involving business development and strategic client management Proven track record of achieving significant sales targets and managing high-value client accounts Significant experience in a leadership role

Physical Demands/Work Environment: Frequent travel to client sites both domestic and international. Frequently stationary for 6-8 hours per day. Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs. Varied hours may be required.
