Role Overview: The Scientific Communication & Exchange (SCE) Team plays a critical role in maintaining and building BioMarin’s credibility and leadership within the fields of science, medicine, and biotechnology; and in demonstrating the value of our (investigational) therapies to patient communities and healthcare systems. Vital contributions include but are not limited to: Bringing clarity to complex data sets without over-simplification or over-interpretation. Developing educational content to ensure internal alignment and comprehension of key findings. Maintaining up-to-date scientific messaging repositories. Recommending data dissemination plans informed by comprehensive gap analyses. Executing against endorsed data dissemination plans. Producing high-quality manuscripts, posters, abstracts, congress cards, publication summaries, presentations, and trainings. Ensuring accuracy and consistency in cross-functional, externally facing scientific and medical messaging. Performing all activities in a manner compliant with BioMarin best practices. Responsibilities: The Executive Director (ED) of SCE will provide executive-level insights and leadership to SCE team members. The ED will be accountable for infusing the overall SCE strategy with a portfolio view and insights driven by an understanding of evolving business needs. Key responsibilities include: Motivating and engaging teams at all levels. Encouraging open, honest, and clear communication across teams. Holding teams accountable for deliverables. Identifying internal and external best practices. Establishing a team focus on excellence in customer service. Minimum Requirements: Life Sciences background preferred (MD, PharmD, PhD or equivalent), 5 years of experience in medical communications and/or field medical engagement, and global or multiple geographies experience preferred.
