You will join the Directorate for Equality, Inclusion and Human Rights, working to ensure that equality, inclusion, and human rights are at the centre of everything the Scottish Government does to reduce inequality. You will support the Deputy Director (DD) to ensure that the division works efficiently and effectively, supporting the wellbeing of its staff, and contributing to the work of the Directorate. You will also work closely with Business Management Team colleagues on a regular basis, in addition to the Deputy Director and unit heads. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a range of corporate functions and to progress your civil service career. This is a Modern Apprenticeship opportunity, throughout the first 12 months the successful candidate will be expected to gain a relevant SVQ qualification. Support will be provided by an internal assessor who will work with you on a monthly basis with time given to work on your qualification. Responsibilities Calendar management including providing advice to the DD on meeting requests and reacting to changing priorities, ensuring the DD’s time is used effectively. Mailbox management including processing incoming and outgoing emails, and prioritising items appropriately to ensure they are actioned efficiently. Ensure the DD is prepared for all meetings and engagements by collating relevant papers and requesting updates in advance. Exercising judgement as the first point of contact to the DD, including providing advice on DD’s preferences and priorities to high level internal and external stakeholders. Supporting the DD with Senior Management Team (SMT) functions, such as scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, recording actions and supporting SMT in their follow-up where appropriate. Arrange and book all travel and accommodation when required. Working with the Business Management Unit to ensure prompt coordination and completion of commissions across the division.
