Experienced Exotic Veterinary Surgeon Brighton, Sussex

Location: Brighton

Job offered by: Bright Leaf Recruitment

Our client based in Brighton is looking for an experienced small animal vet with a strong exotic bias to join the team at their main hospital site. This is a busy clinical unit open 24/7, providing a wide range of services to the local Brighton pet-owning community, and also to a much wider community through its emergency, out-of-hours, and referral services.

The hospital is fully equipped with CT, ventilator, endoscopes, as well as other diagnostic and monitoring equipment of a high standard, and has attained RCVS hospital status. They also have a separate ward for exotics including vivariums and kennels for rabbits and have all the equipment needed for small mammal dentistry. The hospital is also able to offer clients the following specialties by either resident or visiting specialists: Dermatology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, feline medicine, endoscopy and laparoscopy, exotic pet medicine and surgery, hydrotherapy, and laser therapy.

The caseload is 100% exotics during the week; however, you must be competent with other small animal work for the weekend shifts. You will be rotated to work with the other exotic vets through inpatient, surgery, and consults, and CPD is freely available to all clinicians, plus there is encouragement and funding available for those who wish to study to certificate level and beyond. The caseload is varied with small mammals, reptiles, birds, and aquatic pets, so an eclectic clinical experience is assured. There are no night duties as these are covered by our OOH team and just 1:5 weekends.

The position comes with a competitive salary starting around £50k depending on experience, 6 weeks paid holiday (including statutory bank holidays), and a CPD allowance of £1750 p/a plus 5 days CPD study time, RCVS membership, and membership to one professional association of your choice. Enhanced sick pay, maternity, paternity, and parental leave pay are also offered. Ideally, they would like a vet with a certificate or advanced practitioner status; however, vets who would like to work towards this will also be considered.

If this role sounds of interest, please email your CV through to Louise@brightleaf.co.uk or give me a call on 01422 433900.
