We are currently recruiting for a Fabrication Team Leader responsible for the operation of the Fabrication department, focusing on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost & Morale. The successful individual will be responsible for collaborating with other departments and functional leads to consistently manage all aspects of the department to meet or exceed operational KPI’s whilst embedding a daily philosophy of Continuous Improvement by utilising Lean tools (e.g. 5S) to reduce costs, increase production, and improve quality. Key responsibilities will include: Health & Safety

- Ensure safe working practices are maintained, and standard ways of working are adhered to. Lead and develop a positive culture and working environment that drives attitudes and behaviours to deliver improvements in Safety. Responsible for reviewing and updating all SSOW documentation. Leadership/People Development

- Responsible for managing and developing operators to establish a culture of manufacturing excellence. Provide leadership, direction, management and coaching to your team. Undertake performance management responsibility for team members, conducting appraisals and giving direction to ensure superior performance. Prioritise multi-skilling through training & development whilst continuing to raise best practice and standards. Drive Performance

- Lead the Fabrications team to deliver operational KPI’s through effective prioritisation, escalation and decision-making. Conduct daily ‘Tier 1’ meetings and ensure that non-conformance is challenged, and countermeasures are agreed, documented and completed in a timely manner. Where controls are needed, ensure these are documented and continually monitored to validate any changes. Communication

- Communicate with the team through 1-1 dialogue, visual management and delivery of daily dept. briefs. Report daily issues and collate ideas for improvement. Responsible for hosting audits and reporting on actions. Problem Solving / Root Cause Analysis

- Liaise with Maintenance Engineers to ensure breakdowns and machine limitations are addressed as a matter of urgency. Constantly seek new and improved ways of working, identifying problems and resolving them at Root Cause. Continuous Improvement

- Promote a culture of ‘world class basics’, achieved through disciplined adherence to 5S principles. Lead and motivate the team to create a high-performance culture where improvement suggestions are embraced. Utilise Lean Manufacturing techniques to continuously strive to exceed KPI targets. Planning

– Work with Planning to ensure material availability On Time In Full. Ensure staffing levels are adequate and technical capability across the shift remains sufficient to achieve production output (as set by the customer). Manage absence (holidays & sickness), ensuring accurate records are kept up to date. Personal Development

- As part of continuous learning and self-development, identify and undertake relevant technical and functional training as required, to provide the best service possible to the site. Required Experience and Knowledge Proven track record in developing and embedding effective high performing teams within a manufacturing environment and managing multiple demanding priorities. Demonstrable organisational skills including efficient planning and implementation of systems and procedures (RA’s, SSOW’s, SOP’s etc.) Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to relate to colleagues from a variety of backgrounds and across all levels. Experience of utilising Continuous Improvement tools and techniques within a production environment. Ability to utilise structured problem-solving techniques to navigate complex production issues. Able to manage difficult and challenging conversations. Experience in leading, coaching and managing your team to reach their full potential.
