We are supporting an engineering company specialising in the design and manufacture of material handling systems and special-purpose machinery. Serving industries such as manufacturing, logistics, and processing, their expertise includes custom conveyor systems, structural fabrications, and precision-engineered solutions.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team that has recently brought its design capabilities in-house, offering greater control and efficiency over the design-to-production process. The role is perfect for a motivated professional eager to grow within a supportive and innovative environment.

Responsibilities, but are not limited to: Develop detailed 2D and 3D CAD designs using SolidWorks or similar software. Focus on structural fabrications, sheet metal flat patterns, and folding sections while replicating standard designs as needed. Start with entry-level detailing and progress to more advanced full modelling as experience grows. Collaborate with experienced engineers to ensure accuracy and efficiency in project execution. Work closely with contractors and internal teams to streamline design-to-production workflows. Assist in transitioning previously sub-contracted design work back in-house. Produce clear and precise drawings to support the fabrication team. Liaise with production teams to address challenges during the build phase. Gradually take ownership of projects, balancing independent work with guided instruction. Gain experience in machinery design and structural fabrication, contributing to bespoke solutions for material handling systems. Experiences required: 1-2 years of industry experience in design for fabrication sheet metal flat patterns, structural design, or machinery design. Proficiency with SolidWorks (preferred) or similar CAD software (e.g., Tekla, Revit, Inventor, Solid Edge, Autodesk, CATIA, Creo).
