At Maidstone and Malling Alternative Provision, we see pastoral care as a crucial aspect in building a nurturing and safe environment, allowing all to thrive. The Family Liaison Officer will be the point of contact for parents/carers and pupils when difficult situations and issues arise. With the help and support of the rest of our Pastoral Team, as well as the Senior Leadership Team, you will work with all stakeholders of the school and outside agencies to enable our pupils to overcome barriers to their learning and improve the outcomes for all our pupils. The successful candidate will hold DSL status and will deputise for the headteacher with day to day responsibility for safeguarding. We are looking for a committed, flexible and enthusiastic individual. In this role you will: Be able to build constructive and professional relationships with parents/carers, the wider community, outside agencies, pupils and staff alike. Show your initiative and a willingness to be involved in all aspects of our school live and have the ability to draw on a wide range of support services, information, opportunities and guidance. Be flexible in your working style. Be prepared to work closely with our Pastoral Team to offer our children experiences that they may not otherwise have. Hold DSL status (Designated Safeguarding Lead) and have previous experience in dealing with complex safeguarding issues. This is a necessity as you will become the focal point and main Deputy DSL, completing referrals and attending agency meetings. Applicants will be required to have: A proven track record & experience in dealing with complex safeguarding issues is essential with further experience in counselling others. The ability to build and maintain successful professional relationships and to understand social, cultural, ethnic backgrounds and heritage. Posses effective ICT skills with a willingness to the use of new technology in the workplace. Be committed to continuing professional learning; at MMAP we thrive on the feedback of others at all levels to become more successful in our roles and performance. A good level of education, a sense of humour and be flexible, adaptable and resourceful. Good interpersonal skills, capable of interacting well with parents/carers, pupils and other members of staff. Emotional resilience is essential and must be capable in dealing with difficult situations.
