Duties You will assist me in my daily activities, so that I can access what I need and move around the house. I will always be communicating and instructing, and I will tell you everything that I need during the shift. To give you an idea of what assistance is required during each shift, I have roughly outlined my usual routine below. The night shift is a sleeping shift. It involves helping me get ready for bed, personal care using a hoist, helping me relieve leg cramps during the night when they wake me up, and helping me get out of bed in the morning. There is a bedroom adjacent to mine where you can sleep, and I will usually call a couple of times per night for 5 mins of assistance. An afternoon shift involves helping me use the toilet using a hoist, helping me adjust my seating position in my wheelchair, and assisting with light housework and food preparation. A morning shift involves assistance with my physiotherapy exercises, helping me with housework, and occasionally preparing food.
