Mark is a lovely older gentleman looking to employ a personal assistant who will have a flexible approach to supporting him within the home and accessing the community. Mark has a diagnosis of Autism, Epilepsy, and Diabetes. His epilepsy causes minor seizures, and his diabetes is managed with medication and regular blood count checks. Mark lives independently at home with the support of his sister who plays a huge part in his daily support. He can become tired quickly and lose concentration, so you will be required to prompt him if this happens.
Mark enjoys playing chess and has a substantial collection of chess boards that are his pride and joy. He is a keen collector of books and magazines and enjoys watching sports on TV, especially horse racing. Mark enjoys a weekly visit to the local pub for a meal, and you would accompany him to support him in attending any scheduled appointments. He goes shopping once a week and will require assistance to carry out his shopping.
Mark is looking for an experienced personal assistant who has knowledge and experience of autism and managing epileptic episodes. You will need to administer his daily medical doses, which includes administering weekly injections upon completion of training.
As part of your role, you will assist Mark with personal care, including showering and shaving, and help him choose appropriate clothing and dressing.
Meal preparation will be included in your role, and you will need to ensure there is a supply of food left when you end your shift.
Some light domestic tasks will be required, including laundry and changing beds.
A car driver is essential, and mileage will be covered.
