Description & Background:
We're seeking a skilled Surveillance Field Engineer to join our Site Quality Surveillance Team at Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Plant. This role involves carrying out surveillance on construction activities performed by contractors, specifically focusing on the Construction/Installation/Assembly of Mechanical Equipment including static & rotating equipment, pipes, pipe supports, and welding processes. You'll be responsible for ensuring activities are performed in accordance with Contractor's Work Information while supporting HPC's quality needs, targets, and expectations.
Responsibilities:
Check works are constructed according to Contractor's Work Information
Submit and track non-conformance reports as required
Monitor and verify Quality Inspection Records before works are covered
Review contractor performance against Quality Control Plans
Proactively communicate with stakeholders to maintain good communication links
Identify potential quality issues before they arise
Support implementation of temporary measures to maintain quality standards
Ensure design decisions follow formal Quality Process
Contribute to surveillance KPI indicators
Maintain understanding of Technical Requirements and construction drawings
Monitor contractor compliance with quality standards
Document and report surveillance findings accurately
Support nuclear safety culture implementation
Experience Required:
Mechanical Engineering qualification or equivalent with significant experience
Experience in pipework installation, pumps, tanks and rotating equipment
Broad knowledge of materials, trades methods and legal requirements
Knowledge of Quality Assurance Requirements (ISO9001)
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Proven experience writing accurate and concise technical diaries
Strong attention to detail when checking work, equipment and materials
Ability to establish appropriate working relationships with contractors
Good diplomatic skills while maintaining independence
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience in installation/erection of large Mechanical Equipment
Understanding of CDM Regulations
Knowledge of French language
Experience with electronic handheld devices for information capture
Proven track record in large construction teams
Nuclear industry experience
