A bit about the role: The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that vacuum pumps, systems, and associated plant at customer sites are maintained to a high standard, meeting customer satisfaction and safety requirements. The role will involve both scheduled and emergency maintenance, fault-finding, as well as minor installations and commissioning. Additionally, the engineer will be expected to promote and sell service contracts and pump healthcare plans, as well as provide accurate quotations for system alterations or new installations. What we are looking for: Visit customer sites to maintain vacuum pumps and associated systems to ensure safe and secure operation. Provide emergency breakdown repair and fault-finding services for vacuum pumps and systems. Survey, promote, and sell pump healthcare plans/service contracts. Prepare and submit quotations for contract extensions and minor installations. Undertake minor installations and commissioning activities where necessary. Carry out repairs, fault findings, and emergency breakdown repairs on all manufacturer vacuum pumps. Maintain accurate records of service visits, equipment usage, and stock levels. Liaise with customers, provide advice on vacuum requirements, and manage customer issues when they arise. Promote products and services and identify opportunities for additional sales. Ability to work on-site, including tasks like working at heights and handling tools and equipment. Experience in a field service role with a customer-facing element. Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings. Strong attention to detail, with excellent reporting skills. Experience working with vacuum pumps or compressors. Ideally, vacuum or compressor experience is preferred but not essential. O Level/GCSE English & Maths. Time-served Engineering and Electrical qualification. Valid UK driver’s licence. Ability to work on-site and handle the physical demands of the job (e.g., working at height, moving tools and equipment).
