The Role - Purchase Ledger & Credit Control Clerk Fresh People are currently recruiting for a Finance Assistant to work between the Purchase Ledger and Credit Control department within a finance team of a leading IT and Telecoms business based in Orpington. This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional to play a vital role in the efficient management of the purchase ledger and credit control functions. The Person Proven experience in purchase ledger and credit control within a finance or accounting department, with a strong understanding of purchase ledger processes and payment runs. Proficiency in accounting software and Excel (knowledge of Sage Line 50 is advantageous) is essential, alongside excellent communication skills, high attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and effective time management. Experience managing customer accounts, overdue payments, and building professional relationships is key. Key Responsibilities: Purchase Ledger: Process and manage supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and correct coding. Maintain accurate accounts payable records and ensure timely payments to suppliers. Reconcile supplier statements and promptly resolve discrepancies. Handle supplier queries regarding payments, invoices, and account balances. Prepare weekly payment runs for approval by the Finance Manager. Support month-end closing processes by reconciling purchase ledger accounts. Credit Control: Monitor customer accounts to ensure payments are received on time. Send customer statements and follow up on overdue invoices. Collaborate with Division Line Managers to address payment disputes and issues. Maintain accurate records of customer credit limits, payment terms, and collection activities. Investigate and resolve issues related to customer payments and credit limits. Generate reports on overdue debts and provide feedback to management.
