Job overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Business Partner (8A) at Kent & Medway NHS & Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT) to join an award-winning finance team within a Mental Health environment and a growing Trust.

KMPT is looking for a qualified accountant with an ambitious and proactive attitude. Someone who is comfortable dealing with stakeholders and providing financial advice in what is a pivotal time for both the mental health sector and Kent & Medway Partnership Trust.

Main duties of the job This is a fantastic 8A opportunity and very much a stepping stone to a successful career given the level of senior stakeholder exposure.

As the main finance contact for your Directorate, you will be responsible for the delivery of the financial information required to help both your division and the Trust achieve its financial objectives.

By being the principal financial advisor to the Directorate you support, you will be responsible for contributing significantly to their business planning and financial performance, producing the monthly position with integrity and accuracy, leading and planning their annual financial plan, whilst also providing timely, accurate financial reports.

As much as your role is to meet the needs of your Directorate, you need to be comfortable with constructively and positively challenging all aspects of their financial performance and advising how they can perform most effectively, working as a partner to your stakeholders and integral to their success.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities The post holder will be a senior member of the finance team reporting to a Senior Finance Business Partner, responsible for delivering first class, effective financial advice and supporting the wider organisation.

This will include monthly reporting to Trust Board, Board sub-committees and Directorates, completion of business cases and supporting managers and clinicians to identify and report savings plans.

Able to interpret/analyse highly complex financial and statistical data

Able to work with other professions

Competent IT user, in particular Microsoft Excel

Able to meet tight deadlines and organise oneself under pressure

Experience

Substantial finance experience

Experience of Business Case production

Experience of partnership working at a senior level

Experience of using SBS General Ledger

Knowledge

In-depth knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial systems & costing methodologies

Knowledge of developing and reporting cost improvement schemes

Detailed understanding of computerised accounting systems

Induction

KMPT is committed to supporting all new staff and this includes a comprehensive Induction programme. The programme's duration depends on the role and can be from 2 days to 4 weeks (not always consecutive days).

The Induction programme will provide an excellent opportunity for new staff to meet and engage with KMPT’s subject specialists and include the required training.

The programme may involve some travel to the various training venues across Kent and Medway, the main ones being Canterbury, Maidstone and Dartford.

Probation Period

New employees external to Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust are subject to a six-month probationary period.
