Bristol - Office based role About the Role:
The Finance Business Partner will take the lead in delivering high-quality financial advice and commercial expertise to the organisation. This is a critical role that involves overseeing financial management, including budgeting, medium- and long-term financial planning, project support, forecasting, financial reporting, and control. You will be responsible for managing capital and resource planning for general funds, ring-fenced funds, and partnership funds (eg, West of England Combined Authority), as well as overseeing the closure of annual accounts. Key Responsibilities: Lead on providing comprehensive financial services including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Manage and deliver long-term capital and resource planning for various funds. Provide innovative support to senior managers and councillors, working collaboratively across departments. Take a proactive approach in managing complex propositions and projects, ensuring they align with strategic and operational goals. Contribute to the transformation of financial services and governance within the organisation. Provide leadership and clear management of high-risk programmes and projects. Ideal Candidate: Full CCAB qualification or Certified Member of the Institute of Risk Management (or equivalent). Proven financial acumen with experience in building commercial and economic models. Strong understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards, financial markets, and funding opportunities. In-depth knowledge of technical accounting in a Local Authority. Ability to support complex and high-risk financial initiatives and provide clear, confident leadership.
