This role provides Financial and Commercial leadership and support across the Defence and Decommissioning (D&D) business. Working with P&L leads, take ownership of Budget / Forecasts templates and help Operational teams to ensure the data held within them is accurate, complete, and delivered to required deadlines. Consolidate & make preliminary review of budget & Forecast for Senior Business Unit Director, D&D leadership team and CFO. This includes understanding key commercial and financial assumptions, variances against the previous forecast and risk/opportunity analysis. Review the P&L monthly to understand the key variances to forecast, the key drivers underpinning that forecast, and the key risks and opportunities for future performance. Challenge and validate a rolling 3 month headcount and P&L projection against recruitment expectations and sales pipeline. Ensure robust financial and project control within D&D. Monitoring the following project financial KPIs and ensure PM support in resolution of any issues relating to: Ensuring there is adequate Customer PO cover for project and follow up with PM on issuance of the Advance Authorization when required. Ensuring WIP is invoiced on a timely basis and liaise with appropriate stakeholder to facilitate resolution of any blocking issues. Regular review of Account receivables and follow up of overdue items (Aging Balance). Support on any audit activities (customers, government, external financial auditors, internal quality audit). Work in conjunction with P&L leads and project managers to ensure maximum profitability. For example, by challenging project performance and understanding the underlying commercial constructs. Work closely with the finance team to ensure the quality and usefulness of financial data and analytical reporting. Drive the financial closure of projects. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the interdependency of cost drivers. Understand the entire arc of the business and how productivity impacts profitability. Commit to maximizing efficiency at all levels without compromising quality. Take the lead on developing cost models and sales rate generation in support of bid/proposal submissions for all usual contract types, particular NEC 4. Take the lead in commercial/financial model development in support of supply chain partnerships (JV’s/uJV’s/SPV’s and the like) in support of large scale bid/proposal generation. My profile
ACCA/CIMA Qualified (or equivalent) or qualified by experience. Proven experience of financial and/or project controls required. Experience of computerised accounting systems necessary; knowledge of IFS will be valuable but is not essential. Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience in data manipulation. NEC4 Contract (or similar) Training would be desirable. You must be eligible to work in UK. Softer Skills
