Our client is an ambitious and high-growth privately owned SME business of around £15m T/O, with plans for growth over the next 5 years (both organic & acquisition) and strategic planning for future exit.

FRS has been enlisted to assist with the recruitment of the company's first full-time Finance Director. This is a key strategic role within the company, responsible for building long-term enterprise value, providing insightful financial analysis and reporting, and contributing to both current and long-term business decisions.

You will work closely with the Board, MD, and other senior team members to help guide, support, and deliver the company’s ambitious growth targets and plans. While playing a key role in strategic planning, growth, and M&A for the group, candidates will need to remain hands-on in the guidance and leadership of a small finance team.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and lead the Finance Team, consisting of 1 Qualified and a small transactional finance team. Be part of the SLT / Executive Team, leading all finance-related matters while being involved in commercial and business operations. Provide accurate, timely management information and evolve current KPI/MI/Metrics to drive business performance. Provide forward-looking analysis and recommendations. Assist and guide on strategic direction and decisions regarding financial planning, financing, and M&A. Custodianship of the company's financial performance (Commercial, Management, and Financial Accounting). Drive up enterprise value in long-range preparation for sale.

The ideal candidate will be formally qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) and have previous experience in a finance leadership position, ideally within either an SME or divisional business. Wider experience in driving growth and improvement to enable scaled growth is required, with experience in M&A being key, ideally including both buy and sale.

The candidate must retain hands-on involvement in the leadership and management of the group's financial and management information while having the opportunity to influence commercial and strategic matters significantly.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, with the ability to interpret complex information and present it in simple, easy-to-understand formats.
