Finance Director Based in: St Albans, Hertfordshire £100,000 per annum ZB004 Role Overview: Finatal is seeking a talented and ambitious Finance Director to join a rapidly growing hardware technology business with a £10 revenue. The Finance Director will play a key role in shaping the finance function, ensuring financial stability, and supporting strategic growth initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity for a Financial Controller or Head of Finance who is ready to step into their first Finance Director role in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The Finance Director will oversee all financial activities within the business, report directly to the CEO, and play an integral part in crafting the company's financial strategy. This is a hands-on leadership role that will involve both strategic oversight and operational financial management. You will be expected to improve processes, and provide clear, data-driven insights to support the decision-making at both the executive and board levels. You will attend regular board meetings, working closely with the CEO and other key stakeholders, and will be responsible for managing a small finance team. As the business continues to grow, you will have the opportunity to develop and refine the finance function, build the team, and enhance the company’s financial systems and controls. Key Responsibilities: Financial Leadership:

Lead the finance function, including financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, cash flow management, and business performance analysis. Board & CEO Reporting:

Prepare and present clear, concise financial reports for board meetings, advising the CEO and board on financial strategy, performance, and risks. Financial Strategy & Planning:

Work closely with the CEO and senior leadership team to develop long-term financial strategies and support strategic decision-making. Team Development & Management:

Oversee and mentor a small finance team, building a high-performance culture and ensuring the team’s continuous development. Cash Flow & Profitability Management:

Manage working capital and cash flow, optimise business performance, and implement cost control measures to support profitable growth. Process Improvement:

Improve and the finance functions, systems, and controls, ensuring they scale with business growth. Financial Compliance & Governance:

Ensure the business complies with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and legal requirements. Business Partnering:

Act as a trusted advisor to the wider business, providing financial insights to support decision-making across operations, sales, and other departments. Mergers & Acquisitions:

Support the CEO in identifying and evaluating potential mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships, including financial due diligence and integration planning. Ideal Candidate Profile: Experience: Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Head of Finance, or similar senior finance role within a fast-growing SME, ideally in the tech or hardware sector. Experience in managing all aspects of finance within a £5m–£20m revenue business. Familiarity with financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and strategic financial planning. Experience in attending and presenting at board meetings. Skills: Strong technical accounting skills (ACCA, ACA, or CIMA qualification preferred). Ability to analyse financial data and communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders. Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of developing and motivating finance teams. Strong business acumen, with the ability to provide strategic insights and drive business performance. Experience with financial systems and ERP solutions (experience with systems like Xero, NetSuite, or similar is a plus). Personal Attributes: Ambitious and eager to take the next step in your career. Hands-on, proactive, and comfortable in a small, dynamic business environment. Strong communicator, with the ability to collaborate with non-financial teams and senior leadership. Analytical and strategic thinker with a focus on continuous improvement and scalability.
