Are you an experienced accountant who would like to make an impact in a diverse and multinational team solving complex issues and challenges?

This is a great opportunity for someone to support the delivery of lasting improvements to our operational finance processes, improving the timeliness, quality and efficiency of Aviva's internal and external financial reporting and ensuring we are set up to respond in an agile way to business change.

The role would suit someone who likes getting involved in the detail and is happy to roll their sleeves up to thoroughly investigate issues to identify root causes and propose actions to address these. Helping to then deliver the necessary solutions to remediate the issues identified will also be a key part of this role.

A bit about the job:

This role is in the UK Life General Ledger Close and Balance Sheet Control team, specifically in the reconciliations area, working with our colleagues in the UK and offshore. You will be responsible for performing detailed investigations across all the key balance sheet reconciliations within the UK Life business, to produce a full listing of all the issues currently impacting these reconciliations and help drive the resolution.

The role holder will be responsible for developing detailed, robust and fully costed action plans to remediate all the issues identified in the key reconciliations, in order to facilitate and support the complete and materially accurate reporting of the UKL Financial results.

Skills and experience we're looking for: A professional accountancy qualification would be preferred but understanding and experience of balance reconciliations is essential. Experience in delivering process improvement/remediation activity preferably in the insurance industry. Strong teamwork capability and a proactive approach to reaching out to others to get information, explanations and answers. Comfortable with rolling your sleeves up and getting into the detail to fully understand processes in order to identify issues and understand root causes. Experience of interacting with outsourced and offshore teams. What you'll get for this role:

Our purpose - with you today, for a better tomorrow - is a promise we make to our colleagues too. And one of the ways we live up to that promise is by investing in you. We have so much to offer when it comes to being an Aviva colleague.

Salary up to £60,000 - depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications. Bonus opportunity - 10% of annual salary. Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva's. Generous pension scheme - Aviva will contribute up to 14%, depending on what you put in. 29 days holiday plus bank holidays, and you can choose to buy or sell up to 5 days. Make your money go further - Up to 40% discount on Aviva products, and other retailer discounts. Up to £1,200 of free Aviva shares per year through our Matching Share Plan and share in the success of Aviva with our Save As You Earn scheme. Brilliantly supportive policies including parental and carer's leave. Flexible benefits to suit you, including sustainability options such as cycle to work. Make a difference, be part of our Aviva Communities and use your 3 paid volunteering days to help others. We take your wellbeing seriously with lots of support and tools.

Aviva is for everyone:

We're inclusive and welcome everyone - we want applications from all backgrounds and experiences. Excited but not sure you tick every box? Even if you don't, we would still encourage you to apply. We also consider all forms of flexible working, including part time and job shares.

We flex locations, hours and working patterns to suit our customers, business, and you. Most of our people are smart working - spending around 50% of their time in our offices every week - combining the benefits of flexibility, with time together with colleagues.
