Finance Manager
Fresh People are currently looking to recruit a Regional Finance Manager for a Fresh Produce Wholesale business who will be responsible for management accounting, forecasting, commercial analysis, and decision support relating to Wholesale Markets branches within the SW Region covering Bristol, Cardiff and Southampton. This role will be hybrid working, visiting all 3 sites every week, and the remainder of time you will be working from home. You will work with Branch Managers, Regional Directors, and Head of Finance to maximise the commercial opportunities and identify risks.
The Person
Suitable candidates will ideally be CIMA qualified; however, we would consider QBE. Candidates should have worked within Fresh Produce, Food Manufacturing, or FMCG, and previously worked as a management accountant in an FMCG environment. We seek a flexible team player who is results-driven with a ‘can do’ attitude, striving for continuous improvement, with the ability to adapt quickly in changing environments. The ability to build relationships across all levels of the business cross-functionally is essential, as you will be the only Finance person within the region reporting to the Head of Finance, preferably with multi-site experience.
The Role
As a proactive Finance Business Partner, you will provide support, challenge, and insight to the Branch Managers and Regional Directors.
Deliver timely, accurate, and relevant financial information & analysis to key stakeholders including monthly and quarterly forecasts, annual budgets, variance analysis, and KPIs.
Identify risks and opportunities to enable the delivery of targets.
Develop, rigorously challenge, and question the budget/forecast assumptions and KPIs.
Provide the Monthly Review Packs and participate in the Monthly Branch Review Meeting.
Identify and explain business performance variances and recommendations for improvements.
Conduct consignment reconciliation, analysis, and challenge.
Manage margin through analysis and challenge.
Develop and understand distribution cost reporting & KPIs.
Benchmark performance across locations.
Monitor new business performance and profitability.
Handle monthly accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Attend monthly stock takes.
Maintain strong financial controls across all areas.
Support the Head of Finance as required through analysis and project activity.
Manage compliance to minimize risk and ensure transparency in line with company policies and statutory requirements.
Liaise with internal and external auditors.
