Salary: £Competitive Location: Edinburgh Posting date: 18 Nov 2024 About the role Walker Timber is a Timber Manufacturing and Distribution Company based in Bo'ness, West Lothian providing Timber Frame House-kits, Trusses and Timber to the new-build housing and construction sector throughout Scotland and the North of England. With an established reputation for producing quality timber kits and providing excellent customer service, the Company is entering into a period of expansion in the next few years. We are looking to recruit a Finance Manager to join our Walker Timber team based in Bo'ness. Reporting into the Managing Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Finance Department. Key Capabilities Required Monthly Management accounts Monthly overhead analysis vs. forecast and budget Preparation of Monthly Finance Report Preparation of 1/4ly forecasts and support schedules Participation in scheduled and ad-hoc management meetings including Board and Quarterly Forecast Meetings Preparation of accurate and timely year-end stat pack and associated year end schedules Liaison with Miller Homes Group Head Office Finance Team & Audit Partners Manage process for Banking & Ad-hoc Payments Manage process for Monthly Standing Journals, Balance Sheet Reconciliations and Cashbook Management of the Accounts Payable (AP) department Manage process for fortnightly payments to Sub-contractors Management of the Accounts Receivable (AR) department Manage process for monthly Payment Applications to Clients for Supply & Erect Contracts Manage process for salary and works payroll processing Manage process of monthly salary & works payroll sign-off and HMRC compliance Preparation of Monthly VAT Return and VAT compliance Oversight of "K8" IT System and processes Ad-hoc tasks in support of Managing Director and Senior Management Team Skills, Capabilities and Attributes Able to analyse and interpret data, and challenge where required Excellent Organisation skills Ability to work to tight deadlines Previous experience of successfully managing a team: Motivating Coaching & Mentoring Using Group aligned management processes (appraisal, absence management, discipline etc) Behavioural Attributes Demonstrated Drive and Enthusiasm Motivation Skills Attention to Details Excellent Communication Skills Knowledge, Experience and Qualification Qualified to HND level or equivalent Preferably progressing Accountancy qualification Extensive experience of Microsoft Excel 2010 Good knowledge of Word/Powerpoint 2010 Demonstrated experience of working with Accounts IT Packages Previous experience in managing a team How to apply Please submit your Curriculum Vitae and covering letter ideally including details of your current salary and notice period.
