Our client's Finance Director is looking to exit in approximately 5 years, and they would like to appoint a Financial Controller with an entrepreneurial mindset and aspirations to be a Finance Director/shareholder in the future, potentially as part of an MBO. Working closely with the long-standing FD, this role will require you to get involved in all aspects of the business, learning the intricacies about operations, sales, and marketing to truly understand what makes the company tick. The MD and current FD are in the process of executing a growth strategy that will see them taking advantage of numerous opportunities in their sector. As their business model is scalable, their time is mostly going to be spent out on the road visiting existing and potential customers, developing new accounts, and tendering for work. This is therefore an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious candidate to play a significant part in their journey. Applicants must be CIMA/ACCA or ACA qualified with demonstrable experience of a Finance Manager/Financial Controller role in a small to medium-sized business. To be successful in this role, you must be comfortable with managerial responsibility and the expectation to lead, contribute ideas, and influence change. This will be a broad role where some of your key responsibilities will be: Managing and developing a small finance team Reporting and analysing all financial data in the business Preparing KPI’s and integrating operational data into finance metrics Producing annual budgets and ongoing detailed forecasts Improving controls and processes around sound financial management Liaising and developing relationships with customers and suppliers Driving cost awareness and efficiencies throughout the business Making recommendations and implementing change Preparing reports for the bank and other finance providers Producing financial accounts, liaising with HMRC and tax advisers My client is seeking a high calibre, ambitious individual with a balanced financial and management accounting background, a commercial mindset, and rounded business awareness. This role will allow you to play a major part in driving a business forward and, for the right candidate, could provide a genuine wealth creation opportunity in the future.
