Financial Accounting Manager
to take charge of the financial accounting function within our client's organisation. This pivotal role will oversee year-end statutory accounts preparation, regulatory returns, and ensure effective financial controls across accounts payable, receivable, balance sheets, and investments. A key focus will also be leading a small team to achieve exceptional results.
Key Responsibilities: Lead and motivate a team of financial professionals, ensuring a positive, high-performance culture. Take full responsibility for the preparation and accuracy of
year-end statutory accounts , in compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS, and charity SORP. You will ensure that accounts are submitted on time and in accordance with all relevant regulations. Oversee the preparation and reconciliation of Nominal, Sales, and Purchase Ledgers monthly, ensuring debtor controls are in place and ledgers are accurately updated up to the trial balance stage. Ensure payroll is accurately processed, managing tax, national insurance, and pension contributions, and ensuring all year-end data files are cleared and ready for the new tax year. Coordinate the
annual audit of accounts , liaising closely with external auditors to ensure smooth and efficient audits. Ensure the organisation complies with statutory obligations, including the timely completion of VAT returns, HMRC filings, pension returns, and other periodical payments. Oversee the development of
cash flow monitoring and forecasting
systems, providing valuable insights into the organisation's financial health. Lead by example in promoting health, safety, and wellbeing within your team, while ensuring all team members align with the organisation's values and culture.
Skills and Abilities: Strong leadership skills with proven experience managing and developing a financial accounting team, ensuring peak performance and effective workload management. Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience of
year-end statutory accounting
processes, with an ability to deliver accurate and compliant accounts under UK GAAP, IFRS, and charity SORP. Strong understanding of VAT in a partially exempt environment and financial accounting principles and practices. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement. Proficiency in finance systems and IT, with a focus on process improvement and delivering efficient, user-friendly financial solutions.
Fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA preferred; part-qualified also considered with the right experience alongside great Excel & IT skills.
