Job overview

East Sussex Healthcare Trust are looking for a strong technical accountant who works well within a team and has a track record of delivery to timetables. You will be a self-motivated, pro-active individual with strong time management and organisational skills. You will have excellent technical, communication and influencing skills.

This post requires hybrid working, there is a requirement to attend the office, which can be discussed at interview.

Main duties of the job

The Financial & Capital Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the Trust's financial accounting is accurate and compliant with all statutory requirements, through monitoring and maintaining key financial controls over the Trust's balance sheet, supported by a team of three. The role also provides both routine and ad hoc financial analysis of capital spend and charitable funds accounts.

An advanced level of IT skills, both on integrated finance systems and MS Office, are required.

A formal accountancy qualification and recent experience of financial accounting within a large complex organisation are essential.

Essential criteria Educated to A-level standard including Mathematics. Advanced Diploma in Accounting - Level 3 (AAT), or currently studying this level. Evidence of continued professional development to degree level or equivalent level of knowledge and experience. Desirable criteria

Professional Diploma in Accounting - Level 4 (AAT full member). Experience

Essential criteria

Evidence of financial accounting experience in a large / complex organisation. Experience of technical accounting, capital accounting and/or financial management experience in the NHS or other large complex organisation. Experience of analysing and investigating complex variances. Minimum of 1 year NHS experience or within a large complex organisation. Desirable criteria

Broad Finance, technical accounting, capital accounting, office experience. NHS year end accounting experience. Previous experience of managing a Team. Skills

Ability to manage self and exhibit personal skills, including self-awareness, self-management and drive for improvement. Strong excel skills, attention to detail and the ability to manipulate and interrogate vast amounts of financial data. A good range of financial and other analytical skills.
