Partnering exclusively with Sheridan Maine, this acquisitive SME has ambitious plans to increase their turnover by up to 50% over the next three years. You will be part of a capable and friendly team who take pride in their business. The role will be based predominantly at their South Birmingham/North Worcestershire HQ with travel at least weekly to other locations in the Birmingham area. A pool car is provided for travel between sites, a car driver is required for this reason. The role leads a team of 3, and you will enjoy the opportunity to improve systems and processes, with the aim of making finance scalable within a growing SME. Your responsibilities as the Financial Controller will include:

Oversee the finance function and daily operations of the finance team Provide strategic financial support to the Board for decision-making and business planning Serve as the key communication link between finance, the Board, and the wider company Lead the annual strategic planning and forecasting, setting financial targets to manage performance Manage the financial accounting system and processes Oversee month-end accounts preparation, executive report packs, and improve the costing model Review management accounts and balance sheets, investigating variances with the Senior Management Team Provide monthly performance analysis to support business goals Manage the year-end process and take responsibility for balance sheet and reconciliations The successful Financial Controller will require the following skills and experience:

Accounting qualification (ACA, CIMA, or ACCA) or qualified by experience (QBE) with relevant background Experience in the SME sector Strong ability to business partner with senior stakeholders Proficient in IT, including Microsoft Office applications Solid background in financial control and process improvement, with a strong understanding of technical accounting If you’re passionate about this position or are keen to hear more, please click on “apply” as soon as possible.
