The Role As our Financial Controller, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the financial health and integrity of our operations. You’ll oversee the finance team, delivering accurate financial reporting, strategic advice, and insights to guide decision-making at all levels of business. From managing statutory compliance and internal controls to providing detailed financial analyses, your work will be integral in supporting the growth and sustainability of our electricity network. In addition to your core financial responsibilities, you’ll be a leader within the team, guiding and developing your direct reports, and helping to foster a culture of continuous improvement. You’ll have the opportunity to mentor, coach, and grow your team, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge required to excel. Your leadership will drive operational excellence and help us implement best practices to ensure the continued financial success ofWaipā Networks. Key responsibilities: Provide dynamic leadership and direction to the finance team, creating a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement Oversee the preparation and delivery of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports Ensure compliance with accounting standards, statutory requirements, and tax obligations Lead the annual budget and forecasting process, providing strategic insights to senior management Oversee treasury management, including cash flow monitoring, banking relationships, and liquidity management Ensure the integrity and development of financial systems and processing, driving continuous improvement and efficiency Lead the preparation and management of annual audits, internal controls, and financial governance Provide strategic financial advice and support to senior management and business units, aiding in informed decision-making and effective risk management Manage the payroll function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee salaries and associated costs Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial alignment with business objectives and operational excellence Provide support and backup to the CFO when required. About you You are an experienced financial leader with a proven track record in financial management, risk mitigation, and team leadership. With your extensive expertise in finance, you excel at delivering valuable insights and strategic advice to senior management, enabling informed decision-making. You have a strong understanding of financial systems and have a passion for enabling continuous improvement and fostering team growth. Your ability to balance detail with big-picture thinking makes you a trusted partner in driving our businesses success. You will have: A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field Chartered Accountant (CA), CMA, CPA, or similar professional qualification (desirable) 7-10 years’ experience in a finance manager or controller role Skilled in delivering business and financial advice to senior management Experience in implementing or upgrading financial systems.
